I moved to Washington, DC in 2006 and worked on 17th and Penn for 3 years. There were three coffee shops within a block- Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, and Swing’s. Early on, I noticed that the tourists tended to go to Starbucks, the GW students went to Caribou, and the international IMF/World Bank employees went to Swing’s.
Odd? Nope- just visit Swing’s, order a coffee/espresso/whatever suits your fancy, and chat with the friendly, super knowledgable folks that work there. That should do the trick.
