Logitech Harmony Ultimate Home

The Harmony Ultimate Home is, admittedly, a complicated product that exists to simplify your life. That seems like a contradiction, and in some ways it is. The setup procedure had me scratching my head, but I kind of liked the challenge. It has been a long while since setup of a device took longer than 5 minutes. Perhaps I have had one too many Apple devices that worked out of the box. But the Logitech is providing a one-size-fits-all solution to control a possible 270,000 devices. I am using it to control my TV, Cable Box, Apple TV, Sonos PlayBar, Sonos Play:3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Philips Hue Lights, and a Nest Thermostat.

That is a lot of different devices for any one remote to handle.

The only gap is that it can’t yet control my Z-Wave switches and lights. That is coming as soon as the Home Hub Extender launches. Which is supposed to happen any day now.

But, I am only using 10% of its capabilities. For example, I have yet to use the scheduling functions or the iOS control but if your coffee table has more than 3 remotes it is worth considering.
